Hi Everyone,
Here we are presenting our idea for a Training Planner. We believe you can use a feature like this to plan training whether its for a certain period, like a quarterly/monthly training, or something like remedial or incidental training, or other cases.
The way to understanding how this works is to simply trace back how you would think when planning training – need to train all nurses in A, B and C.. or need to train all new staff in this… C, D and F, where A, B, … F are training modules or classes. Click through the steps numbered 1 though 14. (If you have trouble reading the text on the images, click on the image itself to open a larger version in a new page (Clicking on the ‘Click to view larger image’ link below the image works too). Just remember you can also comment on the designs, or ask questions… look for the Leave Your Comment link at the bottom of the image in the original page.
Will this allow for managers to be able to track what staff have been trained on which participants plans of care? TMS is great for actual classes, but we need something to assist us in tracking and monitoring staff training on particular participants plans of care. It is a state requirement that any staff person who works with a participant be first trained on their plan of care and that there is documentation of this training.
For something to be trackable, you need to have it as a Class in the system. So, a plan of care, or components of it have to be entered in as a class, and you could define its expiration period to make sure the system reminds you that the staff needs to go over the plan of care again. You could possibly create a Curriculum on the existing TMS for each participant and then organize classes under it according to whats in the plan of care.
I would like to see additional options for allowing the same instructor to teach more than one class at a time. For example, sometimes I have a whole day program running. I am down as the instructor even though I do not do all the training. Then, later on in the day, I do train. However, the system does not allow me to include myself as an instructor because I already am down for the full day. Consequently, I have to make up an instructor in order to schedule the class and enter it in Therap.
The proposal of this design is actually to leave the Instructor as an optional field, so those who need it can still have access to it. As you can see on proposed step 12: http://www.therapservices.net/garage/?p=574 ..the instructor field doesn’t have the red star which tells the person using it that its required.

I agree… or the option of not having an instructor listed. Sometimes we don’t know who is going to teach until the day of the class.
