Donuts for all!

December 30th, 2008

Since Maureen visited the Mark Twain house recently, I thought it fitting to bring in the New Year with one of his quotes:

“New Year’s Day - Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.”

I also found a fun fact that I believe I will have to incorporate into my own New Year traditions:

-Many cultures believe that anything in the shape of a ring is good luck, because it symbolizes “coming full circle,” completing a year’s cycle. For that reason, the Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year’s Day will bring good fortune.

Hope you all have a very safe and happy New Year!

Feliz Navidad!

December 25th, 2008

Merry Christmas Everyone!  Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!  Dave and I are here in Wyalusing, PA with my family.  It’s already snowed, which is always great on Christmas morning.  I was super excited to get outside and play with our dogs, Kiska and Bubba.  It’s their first home where they were able to just run free in the woods, and I totally enjoyed spending the time outdoors playing in the snow with them.  Now, it’s time to eat!—- Again :)

Don’t forget the holiday beagles

December 21st, 2008

Well, thought it was only fair to those beagle lovers out there to include this little holiday card I got.  Now we just need to combine Allison’s and mine and we’ll have a festive little puggle :)

Also, that storm warning was right this time, and we got a bunch of snow in CT, and boy, was it heavy!  Still a little sore from shovelling all that stuff.  Unfortunately, we broke our ice scraper in the process.  We’re due for some more snow tomorrow, so I’m just hoping it’s not 6 more inches.

Hope you’re all keeping warm and safe!

New to Therap? Want to learn how to use us or train others?

December 17th, 2008

I’m not sure if everyone’s noticed, but we’ve added a really cool feature that nicely packages a lot of our different resources and tools for people who are looking to learn about Therap and/or train others to.  If you’re on our main website, you’ll see a section on the right hand side, ‘Learn to Use Therap’.  If you click there, then you can see really useful training outlines, that include automated training, user guides, the Training Checklist, among other really helpful references that we use to train new users.

So, check it out and let us know what you think!

Thanks,

Kara

Thoughts from the Round Table

December 4th, 2008

  • For all fans of our new automated trainings,-we’re coming out with one for Secure Communications shortly.  So, check back often for that one.  Sure to be a great addition to your staff trainings or refreshers.
  • Have you all noticed the cool new images you’re getting on your Splash page when you login?  I saw it this morning, and all I could say was ‘wow, love it’– Expect more where that came from.
On a more personal note, I’ve also recently discovered that instead of being christmas angels, my two cats became little devils when the christmas tree came out.  I’ve found that I’m slowly stripping down the tree so that it’s cat safe.  Fist they broke the tree topper, then I had to remove the tree skirt.  I’m guessing that by Dec. 25th I may just have a ‘picture’ of the tree hanging on the wall. ;)
Until Wednesday :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26th, 2008

Hi everyone!  I hope you all have a very safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday!!  As for me, I’ll be spending it at home as we (meaning my fiance) cook for the first time on turkey day for my family.  I’ll take care of the food accessories- (ie. opening the can of cranberry sauce, snacking on pickles all day, and making sure that everyone gets the recommended daily allotment of Thanksgiving day napping)  ;)  In honor of the day, here are some interesting/fun facts I found:

  • The first Thanksgiving was not a feast, but rather a time when Native Americans helped Pilgrims by bringing them food and helping them build off the land.
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird
  • Turkeys can drown if they look up when it’s raining!
  • A turkey’s field of vision is 270 degrees–one of the main reasons they’re able to elude some hunters. (My Dad, included)
  • Congress did not declare Thanksgiving a national holiday until 1941.
  • Contrary to popular belief, the Pilgrims did not have big buckles on their clothing, shoes, or hats.  Buckles did not come into fashion until the late 1600s – more appropriate for the Salem Witchcraft trial time period.
  • Turkeys have heart attacks. When the Air Force was conducting test runs and breaking the sound barrier, fields of turkeys would drop dead

Calculators and Pen Protectors

November 20th, 2008

Ok, so with all the talk going on in our Customers’ Blog, I got to thinking… where do I fall in the grand scheme of the technologically inclined?  I found out here

Overall, you scored as follows:

70% scored higher (more nerdy),
2% scored the same, and
28% scored lower (less nerdy).

What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Not nerdy, but definitely not hip.

I don’t know…. a little disappointing…I think I get extra credit for using the word webinar everyday in casual conversation, hehe
