Electronic Billing in Colorado

January 6th, 2009

Thought I would share a letter that’s going out to the fine folks in Colorado.

Therap Provides Direct Electronic Billing in Colorado

Therap Services, the leading national provider of web-based
documentation and communication services to the Developmental Disability
Community, is now providing direct Medicaid billing for waiver services in
Colorado.

This means that your agency can expedite the process of
managing service authorizations, collecting billing data (it can now be done
online by Direct Support Professionals at the point of service), submitting
claims, tracking their approval or rejection, and ensuring payment.  This is all done from within Therap’s easy to
use web-based interface.

By using Therap, staff in remote locations can complete
documentation as they provide services and that documentation is instantly
available to the people who need to see and use it.  Agencies can very easily and flexibly define
who can see what data and what they are allowed to do with it.

Therap’s HIPAA compliant, secure, web based system not only
tracks billing data but also allows staff to complete all of their day-to-day
documentation including progress notes, incident reports, health information,
service plans, teaching strategies, behavior plans and much, much more.

Being web based means that there is no software to install
at your end, all you need is an internet connection.  Therap does not require any particular brand
of computer to run on and you don’t need and special network.  All your data is stored in Therap state-of-the-art
data centers where we take care of all your security issues for you.

Therap pricing is incredibly affordable.  Therap pricing is available online at: http://www.therapservices.net/pricing.php
Pricing is based on a per-individual per year fee.  This fee includes access for all your staff
and any other team members that you might want to include.  Many agencies even give out access to family
members.  This fee also includes your set
up, training, support, and upgrades so you have very affordable, predictable
costs.  In our experience, agencies that
fully implement Therap are making significant savings based on reduced travel,
duplication of work, and supplies as well as increasing the effectiveness of
their staff.

If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to
contact us at any time.  We’d be
delighted to set up a demonstration for you and your agency.  You can also find out more on our website: www.TherapServices.net

Welcome Ken

January 5th, 2009

I am very excited to welcome Ken Slavin to Therapville!  In fact I am also excited to welcome him to Connecticut as he is with us in the office this week and is coming with me out to Monticello, NY and the Buffalo later this week.

Ken comes to us from Washington, DC where he lives and previously worked for the Developmental Disability Administration.  Ken has a lot of experience working with billing and waivers and as I write, he and Jim are having way too much fun digging around inside Therap Billing.

If you are in Virginia, DC, Maryland, West Virginia, or New Jersey then be looking out for Ken as he would love to be talking to you.  You’ll also get a chance to meet him at the Provider Admin Conference in Fishkill, NY.

Look for more about Ken and our other new team members as they move in.

Lots of fun, excitement, and Lunacy

January 3rd, 2009

Today was FIRST Robotics kickoff, the day when all the robotics teams around the world were given the game that they now have six weeks to build.

This year’s game is called Lunacy and celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the lunar landing.  Remembering that the average age of those ending up at mission control for the landing was 18 at the time JFK issued the challenge to reach the moon !

Team Max
gathered at Wolcott High School to watch the live broadcast.

Tomorrow is strategy and planning and then it is six weeks of solid building, testing, programming and more.

Great stuff!

Happy New Year! (it will be in Therapville)

January 2nd, 2009

I know many people are looking ahead to 2009 with some trepidation given the state of the economy and any number of unsavory situations around the world.

I for one, am really excited.  For one, I always hold out hope for peace and justice because I think that without doing so you have no chance of actually achieving anything.

Then there is Therap!  2009 is going to be (yet another) tremendous year for us in many ways.  Here are just a few things off the top of my head:

  1. The application is continuing to grow.  The list of enhancements for 8.1 is really exciting.  Topping the list for me are additions to MARs and Personal Finance and some simplifications and reworking of TMS that are going to be spectacular.  There’s much more of course and your best way to find out about it all is to come to our Provider Admin Conference in February.  That’s before I get to all the coll stuff that Asif and Sazzad are doing in Billing and ISPs.

  2. After that, just imagine what we are planning for Therap 9.0!
  3. The Therap team just continues to get better and better.  I am really exited to announce that Debra Buffett, Jeff Case, and Ken Slavin are all joining us this month as members of our Sales and Implementation Team.  I’ll take more time to introduce them each in future posts and I am sure you’ll get the chance to meet them soon.
  4. I am convinced that it is in times like these when we need to be aware of every penny that we spend and makeing sure that all of our staff are as effective as it is possible to be that this really is the time to be using Therap.  Sometimes you really do have to do something new to save money.  I’d be very interested in hearing and sharing your experiences in saving money and/or becoming more effective.
  5. Our goal at Therap has always been to have the best possible support and always will be.  We know that this means that as we grow we just have to keep getting better.  With the T-Girl automated training you can see the beginnings of our next generation of support and training materials.  Over the course of this year you are going to see these expand and improve to offer you, your staff, your families, and the people you support an even more incredible Therap experience.

This really is just the tip of the iceburg, as always we hope to exceed your (and our own!) expectations at every level.  If you can think of anything that we should be adding to our to do list, let me know.

And of course 2009 is Homecoming Year, to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Robert Burns.  Be sure to find a local Burns Supper to join in on this month and find a way to get home to Scotland (aren’t we all Scots at heart?).

Happy New Year!

12 Days Of Christmas - Boston Bruins Version

December 30th, 2008

Many of you may have met Jack or his wife Lisa Edwards either at one of our conferences or when shooting one of our videos, they are the power behind Fountainhead Production.

This made me chuckle rather a lot!

PS If you want more you can always join the Jack Edwards fan club, I did!

So much for slowing down over the holidays!

December 29th, 2008

Today felt like one of those relaxing weekend days at the Brockie house:

Iona and I hit the gym early (we’re both determined to get fit)

Then Calum had simming practice (first High School meet tomorrow)

Then into the office

Then off to set up the Team Max video game tournament (no time to stop and play)

Then off to Leszek Wrona’s to see Calum’s team pull off a dramatic 6-4 win in their first game of the winter season.

Then back to pack up the video game tournament.

Then back to the office.

Then…!

I may just have to get one of these!

Brand New Cadillac

December 26th, 2008

Siraya's Stroller by you.

While we were busy doing the things one does on Boxing Day, the fine folks from Connecticut Rehab were delivering Siraya’s new stroller.  If you ever need equipment, Kerry Sheltra’s your guy! (Tell him Siraya sent you!)

We’d already had a couple of appointments at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to measure and then fit her for it.

It really is rather cool and should grow with her for some time to come.  The interesting thing is collapsing it and getting it into Michele’s car!

I’m sure there will be many more pictures of it in action.

Happy Boxing Day!

The cutest computer in the world

December 24th, 2008

Having established the fact that I have the cutest daughters in the world, I am now venturing into computers.

100_5967

I am trying to see if the Dell Inspiron Mini would  work as a mobile classroom computer for new Therap users.  It would certainly be easier to travel with one of these.

100_5966

My thoughts so far:

I like it!  It’s small! (photo above is next to my  15″ Dell - click for bigger and more).

It’s affordable ($380  all in for a refurbished model you would never know wasn’t new)

It is actually remarkably usable.  Even with my big fingers, I am having no problems writing this blog post on it at good speed inside Scribefire.  The screen and keys though small are very clear.

Only a couple of negatives so far:

1. It doesn’t use the standard Dell laptop charger (I love that all our other Dells do)

2. I can’t find F11 (which gets you full screen in a browser which I would use a lot) I can only get as far as F10!

I’ll let you know more as I live with it a bit.  What would you think if we arrived to do your training with a bunch of these?
